Mark Your Calendar for Key 2021 Tax Dates
For most businesses, the tax year is the same as the calendar year, beginning on January 1st and ending on December 31st. Get a jump on pulling things together to meet deadlines with this tax dates calendari.
January 1 – Beginning of the calendar year tax year.
January 10 – Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips in December must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070
January 15 – Self-employed or those paying quarterly tax installments must pay their final installment for 2020 by this date.
January 31 – Deadline for all businesses to provide the appropriate Form 1099 to recipients.
January 31 – If you did not pay your final tax installment by January 15, you can choose to file your 2020 tax return by January 31 with your taxes due, and you will not have to make the final installment payment.

March 31 – Deadline for electronic (only for electronic) filing of forms 1097, 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, and W-2-GS.
April 12 - Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips the previous month must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070.
April 15 – Last day to file an original or amended tax return. First quarter estimated payments due.
May 10 - Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips the previous month must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070.

June 15 – Second quarter estimated payments are due.

September 15 – Third quarter estimated tax payments due.
October 1 – Last date to set up a Simple IRA for tax year 2021.
October 11 - Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips the previous month must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070.
October 15 – Deadline to file tax return if you filed an extension before April 15.
November 10 - Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips the previous month must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070.
December 10 - Employees who work for tips and received $20 or more in tips the previous month must report the tips to their employer on Form 4070.
December 31 – Last day to take any permitted tax actions for the year.
